Even though it is not cold yet, we brought our various beehives in a warmer environment and prepared them for the winter.
Living on the Amiata mountain, we are very lucky to have different microclimates at a very easy distance. The town of Monticello is situated at 735 meters above sea level. You can imagine that temperature is fresh here in summer, but cold(er) in winter. Only ten minutes driving downhill, we find a much warmer climate with more wind protected areas (around 300 meter above sea level). Ideal places for the bees to pass a comfortable winter.
